ATLANTA — Some are calling this weekend a perfect storm for Atlanta’s tourist industry.
Half a million people are pouring into town for 14 big events.
Officials say this may shake out to be the busiest Labor Day weekend the city has ever had.
“There's not a lot of cities in America that have a Labor Day package like we do here in Atlanta," said Peter McMahon with the Hyatt Regency in downtown Atlanta.
Fourteen special events anchored by the sci-fi superhero celebration known as Dragon Con.
“Today is Dragon Con Day in the city of Atlanta, and is Dragon Con weekend by mayoral proclamation. And we're really proud of that," Dragon Con Director Dan Carroll told Channel 2’s Berndt Petersen.
The college football season gets also underway this weekend in Atlanta.
Some 70,000 fans will pack the Georgia Dome for the Chick-fil-A kickoff game, which just happens to feature the Georgia Bulldogs. %

“The house will be packed. I got my tickets back in January. Looking forward to it,” UGA fan Jerry Brooks told Petersen.
Another 30,000 people are expected for the annual Black Gay Pride celebration.
Hotels are booked, restaurants are slammed and police are highly visible on Atlanta’s streets.
Petersen talked to one superhero at Dragon Con who said she is conflicted about what to do this weekend. Wonder Woman's alter-ego attends UGA.
“They all asked where I was going. I said, of course I'm going to the game. I'm not going to that nerd event. Why would I go to that?” Wonder Woman told Petersen.
This year marks the 30
th
anniversary for Dragon Con.
