ATLANTA — A man arrested for attempted rape of a Georgia Tech student will stay locked up.
Joshua Manns appeared in a Fulton County courtroom Wednesday morning where the judge revoked his probation.
It was same judge who took Manns’ guilty plea two months ago for stalking and prowling female students on campus and told him not to go back to Georgia Tech.
Manns served his agreed-on 120 days, walked out of jail last week, and within just hours was back on campus that same night.
He will now serve the rest of his two year sentence -- 20 more months in jail. Manns is also held without bond on the new charges of attempted rape.
We're talking to a previous victim about Manns' new sentence, on Channel 2 Action News starting at 4.
The lead investigator from Atlanta police’s sex crimes unit testified that Manns is seen on video following his victim through the Tech campus around 1 a.m. in November 10.
Cameras also captured him enter the student’s off-campus apartment behind her, then get on the elevator and follow her up to the 16th floor.
The investigator said he then acted like he was tying his shoe in the hallway, then pushed his way into the apartment before she could lock her door.
The victim’s screams woke her roommate and boyfriend and the suspect ran off. He was captured a few hours later when he was spotted after Tech police sent an alert to students.
The judge also heard evidence in another case where Manns pled guilty to sexual battery for grabbing women on Peachtree Street in the middle of the day.
The prosecutor argued Manns is a risk to the community, calling his actions “frightening” and the judge agreed his crimes show escalation.
