FedEx driver drops off 3 gunshot victims at hospital

ATLANTA — Police are investigating after four people were shot in northeast Atlanta and a FedEx truck dropped several of them off at the hospital, they said.

Investigators said the shooting happened around 6 p.m. Monday in the 1500 block of Hardee Street NE.

Police said the victims flagged down a FedEx driver for help, who then took three of the four victims to Grady Memorial Hospital.

"He was just being a good citizen, bringing those people to the hospital who were in need of help and medical attention," an Atlanta Police Department spokesperson said.

When police arrived on the scene, they found dozens of shell casings and a windshield littered with bullet holes.

Neighbors told Channel 2 Action News they are still shaken, some saying they even had to drop to the floor when bullets started flying.

"We just heard ‘Pop! Pop! Pop!’ like several times,” a neighbor said.

Investigators are not naming any suspects but said they believe drugs played a role in the gun violence.

FedEx released the following statement:

“First and foremost, our thoughts remain focused on the well-being of those involved in this incident. FedEx Ground commends the quick action taken by this service provider employee and is proud of the many contributions that our team members and vendors make to our communities every day.”
