FBI offers $10K reward to find man accused of killing teenager

ATLANTA — The FBI and Atlanta police announced Monday they are offering a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of a murder suspect.

Police say Dwight Lewis, 26, shot and killed Keosha Tinch, 16, last month.

And now, Kenya Tinch only wants justice for her daughter. Keosha was an 11th-grader at Columbia High School, who wanted to go into the military. Kenya says a reward shouldn’t even be necessary, she says the suspect, should turn himself in for the crime.

“Shouldn’t nobody’s mom have to go through what I’m going through like, for real,” said Tinch outside her apartment in southwest Atlanta.

On Feb. 2, Tinch got the call that her middle child, her baby was shot in the head and killed.
Keosha was sitting in the back of an SUV at an apartment complex off Campbellton Road when police say Dwight Lewis shot into the truck, killing her.

“When he killed my baby, when he took Keosha’s life,” said Tinch, “he just don’t know what he woke up. He should have left me sleep. It’s been horrible. I can’t talk to her, I can’t see her, I don’t get to do none of that. He’s got two small kids that he can watch grow up from prison. I don’t get that no more.”

FBI Field Agent Stephen Emmett says they are working with Atlanta police to catch Lewis, because he is considered a major violent offender.

“Just a blatant disregard for the safety of others, the way this played out,” said Emmett about the shooting.

And right now, authorities say their leads have dried up. That’s why they’re offering up to $10,000 in reward to get Lewis off the street.

“Mr. Lewis knows he’s wanted,” said Emmett. “There’s no secret about that. We now want him to know that there is a $10,000 bounty for his capture.”

“I think it’ll make a big difference. Somebody got to pay their rent,” said Tinch.

“My only memories of her is what’s in my head and Facebook and Instagram, and my phone. That’s it, I don’t get no hugs, no kisses, none of that. He (Lewis) can do that with his kids when they come visit him. So the only thing I really want him to do is turn himself in. Let’s just go on and go to court and get this thing over with. Right is right, wrong is wrong.”

Lewis is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information that could help, police want to hear from you.

The reward is up to $10,000 and you can remain anonymous. To report information, call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477.
