ATLANTA — UPDATE: Since the airing of this news story, Chin Chin Chinese restaurant has scored a 99 on its next health inspection.

----------------------------------------------

A popular Metro Atlanta Chinese restaurant has failed a health inspection. Chin Chin Chinese restaurant on Howell Mill Road in Northwest Atlanta got a high score on a health inspection in March.

It got a score then of 96 but on July 18 the score dropped to 65. Chin Chin opened in NW Atlanta in 1994. It was repeatedly picked as best Chinese in Atlanta by Creative Loafing.

Customer Marilyn Furlong says she’s never had a problem there. She said the quality of the food is OK but upon learning of the recent inspection score she said it may not be as clean of a place as it should be.%

The Fulton County inspector found the staff didn't wash dishes properly, sushi was not stored properly to cool and noted that the restaurant didn't have any hot water.

At Chin Chin an employee told us the owner would call us to talk about the violations. We have not heard from him yet. The inspector did say that the manager said the hot water had been out for days and a plumber was called the day of the inspection.

The inspection report also indicated food was not properly stored including peppers stored with raw meat. Chin Chin will be re-inspected within 10 days of the failing one. We'll keep you updated on the new score.
