Caribbean Legacy Restaurant in downtown Atlanta fails health inspection

ATLANTA — A restaurant that has been introducing a new cuisine to Atlanta recently got a 47 on a health inspection. The owners of Caribbean Legacy Restaurant on Mitchell St. spoke with Channel 2 Action News about what caused the drop in score.

Owners Jacque and Paul Trim spoke with Channel 2's Carol Sbarge about the health inspection score of 47 they received on July 29.

"I was very disturbed... very unhappy about it," Jacque Trim said.

Violations included observed food debris build up on floors, walls and ceilings in the kitchen, raw chicken stored above cooked chicken and cooked chicken not being kept at high enough temperatures.

Jacque says the inspector came shortly after they started the warmer and it was heating up.

"If the warmer doesn't hold the food to the right temperature by the time we're serving we hit it up on the skillet," Jacque Trim said.

The Trims say the debris in the kitchen was food from that day, and the inspector came during a busy lunch.

The Trims say they love their customers and never serve dated or undercooked food.

"We will not shortchange them in anyway and we will not give them stale food or anything to hurt them," Paul Trim said.
