Boy saves up to pay for meals at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta

ATLANTA — A young boy spent his Christmas Eve providing meals for families of children at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

For the fourth year in a row, Jerry Hatcher, Jr. saved up his money to buy breakfast for the families spending the holiday at the hospital.

Children's Healthcare of Atlanta said on Facebook that Jerry almost lost his brother to illness, and knows what it’s like to spend so much time at the hospital.

Wearing his best suit and cash tucked in his pocket, he hid behind the cash register and each time a patient’s family member reached for their wallet, he jumped out and surprised them by paying for their meal.

Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta said in a Facebook post, “Many hugs and happy tears ensued.”
