Man shot, killed inside metro Atlanta home

ATLANTA — Police are investigating a shooting that killed a man in a metro Atlanta neighborhood.

A man was shot inside a house on Cherry Lurel Lane, police said.

An officer on patrol in the neighborhood was flagged down around 2:15 a.m. Saturday and told of the shooting.

The Atlanta Police Department went in and found the victim.

Police say a mother and her teen son were both in the house at the time of the shooting.

Channel 2’s Steve Gehlbach saw both waiting in the back of a patrol car.

Detectives are talking to them.

Someone from the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office was also on the scene

They have not decided on any charges yet.

"We have a juvenile teenager and his mother that homicide's interviewing. We have recovered a handgun from inside the home,” Capt. Ben McGee said. “Very early, very preliminary in the investigation, however we have determined that it was domestic in nature."

Police are also checking any past calls to this house for any domestic disputes.

There was a call to 911 placed from the home at the time of the shooting.
