ATLANTA - A Mexican restaurant in Atlanta scored 43 out of 100 on a health inspection this month.
The restaurant opened this year, making it the second Los Tortas in the metro Atlanta area.
Inspectors reported employees working with raw food and then ready-to-eat food without washing hands. They also said reported food stored at inappropriate temperatures, unsanitized equipment, food contact surfaces and utensils and raw food stored over ready-to-eat food.
The findings were a big change from the previous inspection in March, when the restaurant scored 99 out of 100.
“The problem was the manager we had. He didn't really know about the restaurants and … how the food is supposed to be stored and all that,” owner Ricardo Ortega said using a translator.
Ortega said he fired the manager and has fixed the violations.
