Arrests made in November shooting that killed toddler

ATLANTA — Two men have been arrested and charged in a November shooting that injured a toddler and killed another child.

Police said Jeremy Thompkins, 23, and his brother, Montez Thompkins, 21, opened fire at a house on Polar Rock Place in southwest Atlanta. Several rounds pierced through the front door of the home, killing 2-year-old Ty-Teyanna Motely and wounding her 1-year-old brother, Isiah.

The children had been asleep in bed with their grandmother, police said.

The Atlanta Police Fugitive Unit arrested the brothers Wednesday in DeKalb County. Both are facing charges of murder, aggravated assault and reckless conduct.

Detectives would not give any details on how they tracked the men down or the motive behind the shooting.
