Arrest made; man sought in Tech dorm robbery

ATLANTA — Months after a Georgia Tech student woke up to gunmen in his dorm room, campus police have made an arrest.

Taylor Kelly, 20, told Channel 2 in July he was in the North Avenue Apartments east building when he found two men tampering with his laptop. There are three layers of security to get into the building, but police believe the robbers were tailgating behind students to get in.

Kelly said he questioned the men, but one pointed a gun at his head and told him to shut up or be shot. His cellphone and laptop were stolen.

On Thursday, school officials sent out a news release announcing charges filed against Steven "Turk" Terry, already an inmate in the Fulton County Jail. He was charged with armed robbery, burglary and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Police are still looking for a second suspect, Terrance "Boo Boo" Watley. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Georgia Tech police at 404-894-2500.

The robbery was one in a string of robberies around the Georgia Tech campus in recent months. Campus police said they were able to make the latest arrest with the help of Atlanta police and leads sent to Crime Stoppers.
