Amazon deliveryman crashes into family's garage door and leaves, homeowner says

HENRY COUNTY, Ga. — Home surveillance video shows an Amazon contractor drive up to a customer's driveway before crashing into the garage.

He's seen backing up the truck, which already had a dent in it, and continuing to make the delivery.

With the side door still wide open, he left without leaving a note after creating $2,500 worth of damage.

The collision happened Sunday at the home of Willie Foster on Rocky Creek Road in Hampton.

"He didn't close the side door when he backed out, so apparantly he noticed what he had done," Foster told Channel 2 Action News.

Foster said he was shocked when he went home and saw the damage.

"He didn't put his van in park and after that, he went through and got out like nothing happened," Foster said.

He said he has been going back and forth with Amazon ever since to try and get them to pay for the estimated $2,500 in damage.

"You guys got in touch with them and then they started kind of answering calls and getting back with us," Foster said after Channel 2's Matt Johnson contacted the company.

An Amazon spokesperson told Channel 2:

“This does not reflect the standards we have for delivery service partners. We’ve addressed this with our delivery service partner and are working with the customer directly to make things right.”

The truck bears the logo for Duluth-based "Courier Distribution Systems," which contracts work for Amazon.

Foster said he wonders if this has happened before but to someone without cameras.

"I think he should lose his job behind this," Foster said of the driver.

So far, Foster said, Amazon hasn't said anything definitive about repairing the garage.

Johnson reached out to the contracting company Tuesday night and is waiting for a response.
