JEFFERSON, Ga. - An Ironman athlete has completed his 900-mile bike ride to raise funds for Tripp Halstead.

Dave Nazaroff left from New York City Wednesday morning, and arrived in Jefferson, Ga., Monday morning.

He picked up Tripp at the Jefferson Kroger and towed him in a custom "Team Boom" wagon for the final mile of his journey. Members of the community joined Nazaroff and Tripp for the final stretch.

As of Monday morning, Nazaroff’s ride had raised $155,000 for Tripp, who suffered a traumatic brain injury when winds from Hurricane Sandy caused a tree limb to break, hitting him on the head outside his Winder day care in October.

Money raised will be used to ensure that Tripp’s mom, Stacey Halstead, can stay by his side while he recovers.
