8-year-old becomes newest member of Atlanta Hawks

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Hawks have signed a new player to a one day contract. He's eight years old.

Lake Bozman is from Kennesaw. In February, he and 14 other kids were chosen to be a part of Bert's Big Adventure program, where they were awarded a 5-day trip to Walt Disney World. Bert's Big Adventure is a nonprofit organization that provides an all-expense paid, 5-day trip to Walt Disney World for children with chronic and terminal illnesses, and their families.

Lake was offered an opportunity to go on the trip, but unfortunately, fell ill and had to pass.

Luckily, another offer was just around the corner. It was a chance to become a member of the Atlanta Hawks team for a day, and Lake accepted.

The Bert Show invited Lake and his family to the station Monday and surprised them with the offer, posting images to their Facebook page

Lake's VIP experience will happen Tuesday. His experience will include private transportation service to Philips Arena, a signed one-day contract to be an official member of the team by head coach Mike Budenholzer,  a custom made jersey, he'll be present for the team's official warm-up session, he will tour the locker room and of course have court side seats as the Atlanta Hawks take on the Phoenix Suns at Philips Arena.
