7 suspects in Georgia lottery winner's murder denied bond

BEN HILL COUNTY, Ga. — Seven suspects accused of gunning down a lottery jackpot winner are back in jail after a judge denied them bond.

The suspects in Craigory Burch Jr.’s murder appeared before a judge Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators say they broke into Burch’s home in Fitzgerald, Georgia in January, demanded cash and shot him to death.

Burch won more than $434,000 playing Fantasy Five in November. %

His girlfriend said he pleaded with his killer not to shoot him in front of “my kids and old lady.”

The Ben Hill County sheriff says more arrests are likely.

“We’ve kept these officers on this case around the clock, seven days a week, until we got it solved,” Ben Hill County sheriff Bobby McLemore said. “The people of Fitzgerald can rest assured when we have a crime, we’ll devote whatever time it takes to get the job done.”

Burch’s friends say he used some of his lottery winnings to buy Christmas presents for families in need.
