WALTON COUNTY, Ga. - The father of a 5-year-old boy recovering after a tree fell on him while playing outside says the child is making some progress.
Doctors took Tristen Wilson off his breathing tube Tuesday. The update comes days after Tristen's back surgery.
Tristen and his 3-year-old sister Anslee were playing in the yard of their Walton County home about two weeks ago when a tree fell on them.
Anslee suffered a broken leg. When the accident happened, Anslee was riding in the passenger side of the battery-operated toy Jeep that Tristen was driving.
Tristen has been recovering at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston since the accident.
His father, Ron Saint, told Channel 2's Carol Sbarge on Tuesday he's hopeful about his son's recovery.
Channel 2's Erica Byfield will have a live report from the family on Channel 2 Action News at 6:30 p.m.
