AUGUSTA, Ga. — A 3.2 magnitude earthquake shook the Augusta area Tuesday morning.
The quake, which was 12.9 km deep, was centered in south Augusta on Peach Orchard Road.
“You generally don’t feel an earthquake less than a magnitude three. This one was also only about seven and a half miles deep," Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
“We’ve had several earthquakes recently around a magnitude two, which you don’t feel. An earthquake of magnitude three is actually about ten times stronger than a magnitude two.”
It struck at 11:14 a.m. and many people in the area reported feeling the quake.
