GAINESVILLE, Ga. - Three firefighters are recovering after an accident sent them to the hospital Tuesday afternoon.
According to Hall County Fire Department, the firefighters Will Griffin, TJ Elliot and Stephen Jackson were injured when the bucket they were in fell about 20 feet to the ground. All three firefighters were talking, alert and conscious after the accident.
Two of the firefighters were airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital and the third was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.
The training exercise was described as a regular monthly training on a ladder truck at the Hall County Fire Training Center.
Authorities say they believe there was a mechanical failure on the ladder to which the bucket was attached.
The injured firefighters are all in stable condition.
