ATLANTA - Officers are talking to three children who were inside an apartment during a deadly shooting.
Police said the shooting happened at the Allen Hills Apartments, a gated and guarded complex in northwest Atlanta, just after midnight on Monday.
Someone called police to report a shooting, and when officers arrived, they found one person dead inside an upstairs unit.
Sources close to the investigation told Channel 2's Darryn Moore that a woman answered a knock at the door and four men with their faces covered pushed their way inside and demanded money.
"We located one male victim inside one of the apartments. He was shot at least once in the chest and killed on scene," Capt. Paul Guerrucci of the Atlanta Police Department said.
A source told Moore the women gave the robbers $100 and they ran out of the apartment.
The children inside are between 2 and 11 years old. Police said they were not harmed, but did not specify if the children witnessed the murder.
