3 robbery suspects in custody after police chase

COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — Police have arrested three robbery suspects for allegedly taking police on a chase across two counties Wednesday.

All of the suspects are in custody following the armed robbery at an AT&T store on Highway 34 in Newnan.

Police tell Channel 2 Action News the robbers were after cash and cellphones in the safe. But they walked right past the store surveillance camera that caught a shot of them, along with their getaway car, letting deputies know exactly what to look out for.

In the video, two men are seen walking and pulling down their ski masks just before they enter the store. A closer look shows their getaway driver getting in position in a grey BMW.

Investigators said the robbers struck just as the employee opened the store at 9 a.m., and cleaned out the safe. Minutes later, about 14 miles away, the suspects hit a curb and then bailed out of the still-moving car.

All three were arrested shortly after behind a Waffle House on Senoia Road, but not before sending the BMV they were driving into Kesha Lawrence's car, clipping her tail light.

"Why would they come, then jeopardize all these people and we're trying to go to work or wherever we're going?" Lawrence told Channel 2's Carl Willis. "It's horrible."

Witnesses said this wasn't the first time the Newnan AT&T has been robbed. Investigators are looking at links between Wednesday's robbery and other AT&T robberies.
