3 arrested in FBI operation in Rome

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — Channel 2 Action News has learned three people have been taken into federal custody Saturday as part of an FBI operation in the Rome area, according to FBI special agent Stephen Emmett.

The three North Georgia residents were arrested on federal firearms and explosives related charges. The FBI identified the three as:

  • Terry Eugene Peace, age 45, of Rome, Georgia
  • Brian Edward Cannon, age 36, of Rome, GA (previously from Salt Lake City, UT)
  • Cory Williamson, age 28, of Rome, GA (previously from Pennsylvania)

Emmett said the undercover operation took place at a local Walmart. After further investigation, agents conducted a search warrant at a house nearby.

A Walmart company spokeswoman Brooke Buchanan told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution the incident took place in the parking lot and “had nothing to do with Walmart customers or Walmart associates.”

More charges are anticipated, according to the FBI.

The three suspects are being held in the Bartow County Jail pending federal charges and potentially local state charges.
