20 people killed in crashes during holiday travel in Georgia

ATLANTA — Twenty people were killed during the holiday period in Georgia.

The Georgia State Patrol released new numbers on Monday, showing that the 20 people were killed in 18 crashes.

The holiday period was just 78 hours long, from 6 p.m. on Dec. 24 through 11:59 p.m. Dec. 27.

Across the state, there were a total of 251 crashes, with 91 injuries. In addition to the crash investigations, troopers arrested 173 people for driving under the influence.
