2 top DeKalb prosecutors resign

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Two of DeKalb County's highest ranking prosecutors resigned Wednesday.

Chief Assistant District Attorney Don Geary has more than 20 years of experience, and was in the middle of preparing several large cases, including two death penalty cases, and the Dunwoody day care murder case against Andrea Sneiderman.
  
Deputy Chief Assistant John Melvin has nearly 20 years as a prosecutor. He was in charge of several complicated racketeering cases, including the construction scandal involving former school superintendent Crawford Lewis and a grand jury investigation into the county's watershed department.
   
Both men are expected to leave their current posts at the end of the month for similar jobs in Cobb County.
  
"We will continue to prosecute cases in DeKalb County. We wish them well in their new positions in Cobb County," said DeKalb District Attorney Robert James in a statement to Channel 2 Action News.
