2 injured in garbage truck explosion

MARIETTA, Ga. — Two garbage workers were injured in a garbage truck explosion in Marietta.

Marietta police tell Channel 2 Action News that a family was cleaning out the Brentwood Drive home of a deceased relative and threw away several oxygen tanks. When the garbage truck crushed the trash, the tanks exploded, police said.

One man suffered serious injuries to his eyes and another has a deep laceration to the face. Both were taken to Kennestone Hospital.

Police said debris was scattered all over the street due to the explosion.

Police will investigate to see if charges should be filed.
