2 dead after shooting incident in Newnan

NEWNAN, Ga. — Police told Channel 2 Action News they are investigating a shooting incident that left two people dead Tuesday night.
 
It happened at about 6:45 p.m. on Hill Street in Newnan. Newnan police were called to the scene after reports had been called into 911 for shots fired in the area.
 
When investigators arrived they found one person lying in the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
 
Another person was found further up Hill Street and was taken to the hospital. That person later died from their injuries.
 
Police said they are interviewing witnesses at this point but have not released a motive in the shooting.
 
Police have not identified either of the shooting victims.
