2 arrested after Dunwoody police chase, crash

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Two people were arrested after a high-speed police chase connected to a car theft investigation Wednesday.

DeKalb County police spokeswoman Mekka Parrish said it all started in Dunwoody, where city police tried to pull over a car whose license plate turned up stolen.

Police followed the car until it crashed near Memorial Drive and Rays Road, Parrish said. Neighbors described it as a hectic scene.

"Yeah, he crashed, and the police come chasing him with their guns," witness Amber Rose told Channel 2's Tom Jones.

News Chopper 2 flew over a wooded area where a crashed car was sitting shortly before noon. Jones asked one of the suspects what happened as he was placed in handcuffs at the scene.

"I don't know. I just woke up," the man said.

Police said the suspects also crashed into one of the responding officers during the chase, and she suffered minor injuries. That investigation caused a traffic backup near Interstate 285 and Memorial Drive during the lunchtime rush-hour.
