16-year-old killed in Douglas County wreck

Authorities are investigating a crash that killed one teenager and wounded several others Wednesday night.
According to Georgia State Patrol, Joshua Murphy, 16, of Douglasville, was driving in the northbound lanes of Highway 5 near Highway 166 in Douglas County when his car crossed the line and hit an oncoming car head-on. The teen died on the scene Wednesday, GSP said.
"What appears now is that the northbound vehicle, for some reason, lost control and steered over into oncoming traffic southbound,” Cpl. Michael Land with Georgia State Patrol said.
The driver of other car, identified by GSP as Darien Whitfield, 17, of Winston and his two passengers, Reginald Benson and Pierre St. Brice, of Winston, were also injured. They are recovering at local hospitals, GSP said.
"We heard that there's possible serious injury on one of those but not life-threatening," Land said.
A man who witnessed the crash says he ran over to the scene and prayed over Murphy.
“We just prayed that everyone would be OK, and we prayed for the fella in the vehicle, but we just left it up to God,” Billy Moore said.
The investigation into the crash is still in its preliminary stages and exactly what caused Murphy to lose control of his vehicle is still unknown, according to GSP.
"There’s no signs of drugs and alcohol," Land said.
