10-year-old describes near-abduction on trail

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — A 10-year-old girl said she was nearly abducted while playing in the woods with her friends.

"I really was scared the whole time, and I tried to get away," Karalynn Davis told Channel 2's Ross Cavitt.

She said she was playing a hide-and-seek-type game Saturday night on a trail on Summit Wood Drive near Emberwood Court in Kennesaw. The trail leads to a neighboring subdivision's park.

She said the man was lying or kneeling in the bushes and at first grabbed her leg until she kicked, but caught her again during the getaway.

"I tried to run to my friends, but he grabbed my arm and I fell into a thorn bush," Davis said.

She said she started kicking and screaming and eventually, the man let go. She didn't get a good look at him because it was dark, but she said he was wearing a black hooded shirt and possibly a mask and yellow gloves.

"I'm just really thankful that I have my daughter in my arms," Davis' mother said.

Cavitt found Officer Scott Luther walking the trails in search of clues Monday afternoon. Police said remnants of a tent were found in the woods, but there was no evidence anyone was living in it.
