TROUP COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies are investigating the drowning death of a 1-year-old in Troup County.
Deputies responded to Long Cane Access off West Point Road Sunday afternoon. Deputies say the boy’s mother had found him unresponsive in shallow water at West Point Lake.
First responders attempted CPR and other live saving procedures. The boy was taken to West Georgia Medical Center, where he died.
The sheriff’s office is investigating the drowning but said it appears to be a tragic accident.
