Arrests made in DFCS shooting in Cartersville

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. — Cartersville police have announced an arrest in a shooting outside a Department of Human Services office.

The victim is listed as stable at a local hospital.

Cartersville police said the suspected shooter and an accomplice were captured in Cobb County during a traffic stop early Tuesday morning.

Workers in Bartow County said they huddled everyone into the center of the building as the shooter ran off following the shooting Monday afternoon.

Bartow County Sheriff spokesman Jonathan Rogers said the shooting started on Garrison Street behind the office at about 2:15 p.m. and moved to another location.

Police said the shooting was not related to the Cartersville Division of Family and Child Services and no employees were harmed but the building was put on lockdown for nearly an hour as a precaution.
