1 dead, 1 injured in DeKalb shooting

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — Police rushed to a double shooting at a home in DeKalb County Wednesday night and found a man dead, and woman injured from gunshot wounds.

Police told Channel 2's Carl Willis they also found several children inside of the home on Rockmill Drive.

"I wish this on no one especially these kids that are running around," said neighbor John Gustard. "I feel for the kids that may have seen something. As a result of it, I'm sure they're going to be traumatized."

DeKalb County police said early investigation suggested a domestic incident, but they were not ready to rule anything out Wednesday night.

"It's still under investigation but I think it's going to be isolated at this location," said Sgt. Rod Bryant.

Police said someone inside the house called 911 to report a double shooting.

"We found one gunshot victim in the den of the residence and the other in the kitchen area," said Lt. Byron Holmes.

Police were not ready to talk about the relationship between the people who were shot.

They said a man died from his gunshot wound, and a woman was taken to Grady Hospital in stable condition after being shot.

Police said they removed the children from the scene for their safety.

They told Channel 2 Action News that they did not have any prior history of calls at the house for anything including domestic incidents.

Neighbors said the residents moved into the house about seven months ago.

"This is too close to home," said Gustard. "It's sad that this has happened."
