LA Fitness Manager's Death Ruled Suspicious

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga.,None — The manager of a metro Atlanta LA Fitness who didn't show up to work Tuesday was found dead at his home, police said.

Channel 2's Tom Jones was there as LA Fitness co-workers and customers stopped by Juhahn Belcher's home on Battlecreek Lane in Jonesboro.

Belcher's co-workers told Jones that they were concerned when he didn't show up to work and they drove a few miles to his home and made the discovery.

Police are calling Belcher's death suspicious.

Braylon Brown, one of Belcher's friends, said co-workers went inside the home and noticed Belcher on the floor. Brown said they came out and asked him to go back inside to help.

"We literally walked inside and we seen the blood on the walls, … seen him laying facedown," said Brown.

Brown said it appears Belcher had been shot in the head.

"To see a friend of mine in this manner … I'm just in a loss for words right now," said Brown.

Clayton County police are investigating, but right now, they aren't ready to call it a murder.

Officers told Jones that they are trying to get answers to a couple of questions before they call it a murder.

Swan Vilaiphone told Jones that Belcher was the nicest guy.

"Very terrible loss," said Vilaiphone.

Vilaiphone said Belcher never left his windows open and said police are looking at them being open at the time he was found in their quest to figure out what happened.

"That's what we're trying to find out right now. Who would do something to a good man like this," Vilaiphone said. Police later told Jones that Belcher was shot.

A manager at LA Fitness had no comment.
