Jakarta Floods Worsen as Further Downpours Arrive

Sustained downpours caused some areas of Indonesia's capital Jakarta to flood on Sunday (January 19), inundating homes, disrupting transportation and causing power cuts. The National Disaster Management Agency, police and soldiers worked together to evacuate residents. The National Disaster Management Agency also said that this year flooding in Jakarta had so far claimed seven lives and temporarily displaced more than 30,000 people.
