Heat Expected To Scorch Georgia For Several Days

ATLANTA — Weather forecasters say they expect unseasonable heat to continue scorching Georgia through the weekend, bringing highs in the 90s to much of the state for the next several days.

Meteorologist Nate Mayes at the National Weather Service in Peachtree City says temperatures in Atlanta have been above average every day this month.

Mayes said every day since May 20 has been hotter than normal in Atlanta, with the exception of one day -- May 27 -- when temperatures were about average for this time of year. He said recent daytime temperatures in Atlanta have been running about eight degrees hotter than normal.

The Weather Service is forecasting highs in Atlanta to be in the low to mid-90s every day through Tuesday.
