Gwinnett activists to protest on Tax Day

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Gwinnett County activists plan to rally at a post office in Duluth on Tuesday, which is Tax Day.

The event is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. at the North Metro Post Office on Boggs Road.

"Citizens from Gwinnett and surrounding counties will protest the current tax system that benefits corporations and billionaires at the expense of the economy and the 99 percent," event organizers said in a news release.

Union representatives, members of MoveOn Gwinnett and other activist organizations are expected to attend.

"To demonstrate their outrage over the current tax system which benefits big corporations and the very wealthy, several protestors plan to carry hula hoops to represent the loopholes available to corporations and millionaires and will be wearing brightly colored island wear to represent the offshore island accounts used by the top 1 percent to avoid paying their fair share of U.S. taxes," the release said.

The event will be cancelled if it rains.
