Gov. Deal Previews CRCT Report

ATLANTA,None — Gov. Nathan Deal said he is continuing to review the final investigative report into cheating by educators on the state's standardized test, the CRCT.

"It is very detailed, and it's the kind of investigative report you would want, I think, if you're going to deal with something as serious as this," Deal said.

Channel 2 Action News caught up with the governor as he celebrated the Fourth of July at an event in Gainesville.

He will release the results of the investigation Tuesday morning.

Without revealing the specifics, he hinted at action by the government agency that oversees educators' certification.

"The Professional Standards Commission, I'm sure, will be forwarded the information that comes out of this report for action by them," he told reporter Manuel Bojorquez.

Last week, lawyers delivered the report to the governor's office.

Investigators looked into allegations that teachers changed students' answers to inflate performance numbers.

The report is said to contain findings on 58 schools and the names of educators.

It is not expected to contain criminal charges.

Possible charges from the cheating investigation will be determined by local district attorneys.
