Man injured in officer-involved shooting in Oconee County

OCONEE COUNTY, Ga. — The Oconee County Sheriff's Department said one of its deputies was forced to open fire on a man inside his home.

According to deputies, they responded to a domestic situation Wednesday night on Dials Mill Spur, where a woman was assaulted.

A man confronted the responding deputies and raised a gun at them, according to deputies.

The man was shot and then taken to a local hospital. He is expected to survive.

The responding deputies were not injured.

The investigation has been turned over to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
