Georgia Storm Stories

ATLANTA — Channel 2 Action News anchor Justin Farmer hosts Georgia’s Storm Stories. The program takes a close look at the rare and powerful E-F3 tornado that touched down in Bartow and Gordon counties earlier this year. Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns and Severe Weather Team 2 reveal in great detail how they tracked the storm as it crossed the state. Viewers will also see exclusive tornado video that’s never been seen showing the massive twister plowing across the highway.

Burns also reminds viewers that in Georgia, a tornado can strike any time of the year and anywhere in the state. The documentary-styled special captures Georgians telling their amazing stories of survival and describing what it was like to be caught right in the twister’s path. They also share what they did to stay safe as the tornado ripped through their homes.

“Channel 2’s Severe Weather Team’s number one priority is to help viewers keep their families safe,” said Tim McVay, vice president and general manager of Channel 2 WSB-TV. “Our meteorologists explain how to create a tornado safety plan and steps to take before severe weather strikes.”

The half-hour primetime special is part of the long running Family 2 Family project, with the goal to serve the community through programming that addresses health, safety, education, and quality of life in Georgia. McVay adds, “We invite local viewers to watch and make sure they have a tornado safety plan.”
