Georgia Lottery schedules Cash 4 bonus drawing on Wednesday, Oct. 23

ATLANTA — During a review of the Wednesday, Oct. 16 Cash 4 midday drawing, Georgia Lottery officials determined that a technical malfunction occurred with a ball machine. During the routine post-drawing process, a mechanical issue was identified in one of the draw machines, which negated the proper mixing of a ball set.

As a result of the malfunction, the Georgia Lottery will hold a bonus Cash 4 drawing, giving players an extra chance to win. The bonus drawing will be conducted following the regularly scheduled midday drawing at 12:29 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 23.

All winning tickets from the Oct. 16 Cash 4 midday drawing are valid for redemption. Winning numbers for the drawing were: 4-2-1-0.

All tickets purchased for the Oct. 23 Cash 4 midday drawing will be eligible for the regularly scheduled drawing and the bonus drawing.

The Georgia Lottery takes the security and integrity of its games very seriously. Many steps go into a successful Georgia Lottery drawing.

The ball sets for each game are selected randomly and certified by outside auditors. Each draw machine and ball set used is placed through a series of pre-drawing tests to ensure the absolute randomness of the results. The entire process takes approximately three hours for a drawing that takes less than 60 seconds.

The Georgia Lottery conducts over 2,700 live drawings each year.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
