GBI says student died from allergic reaction

KENNESAW, Ga.,None — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation says an autopsy determined that a 20-year-old Kennesaw State University student died from an allergic reaction.

Tyler Cody Davis of Marietta died August 18th after eating at the campus dining hall. University officials say Davis returned there in distress, and Cobb County emergency responders were summoned.

Emergency workers treated the third-year student, who was pronounced dead after being transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

The GBI said Davis had an EpiPen for allergies and tried to use it, but the needle bent and he was not able to inject the medicine in time.

GBI spokesman John Bankhead said Tuesday additional tests were done to determine the cause of death. He told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution test results indicate the student died from anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction.
