Frost warning issued across metro Atlanta

ATLANTA — Temps will be dropping across the metro area Thursday night, going into the low 30s.

Severe Weather Team 2 Meteorologist David Chandley said because of that, a frost warning has been issued for metro Atlanta from 2 a.m. Friday until 9 a.m.

Chandley said even though the growing season is over, this is our first widespread risk of freezing temps so any tender vegetation should be protected.

He said the timing of the cold snap is right on cue for the average first frost for metro Atlanta.

However, Chandley said the cold temps will not last. He is calling for sunshine across the metro Friday and expects temps to rise well into the 60s and then the lower 70s by the weekend.
