Fleeing Suspect Crashes Car Into Power Pole

ATLANTA — A suspect in a downtown Atlanta shooting crashed his car into a power pole after attempting to dodge police, Channel 2 Action News reporter Darren Lyn confirmed.

Investigators said while responding to a 911 call in reference to shots fired on Fort Street in Atlanta, police witnessed a vehicle fleeing the area.

Police said they tried to stop the Thunderbird, driven by 29-year-old Jalmar Anderson, but he wouldn't pull over and eventually led them on a chase, reaching speeds of up to 70 mph.

Investigators said Anderson exited on North Druid Hills, at which point he crashed his car into a power pole.

Anderson was arrested at the scene and faces multiple charges.

Police said they are searching for others who may have been involved in the shooting.
