Fitzgerald grandmother grabs $20K second chance win

ATLANTA — A Fitzgerald woman has won a $20,000 prize from the Georgia Lottery. Jan Hidi, 60, was selected as a big winner in the Georgia Lottery’s $1 & $2 Play It Again Second Chance Promotion.

She won her prize recently in Atlanta.

As a monthly cash prize winner in the Georgia Lottery’s $1 & $2 Play It Again Second Chance Promotion, Hidi won a chance to select one envelope from 20, with prizes ranging from $5,000 to $100,000.

She chose envelope No. 11 and won a $20,000 prize.

She described her win as unbelievable. “I kept getting up during the night and checking my computer to make sure my name was still there,” she said.

Hidi has two daughters, two stepdaughters and three grandchildren. She and her husband, Frank, also have adopted five dogs.

She anticipates using part of her winnings to take a cruise.
