ATLANTA — A federal judge is in jail after he assaulted his wife, according to police.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones confirmed that officers arrested U.S. District Judge Mark Fuller at a downtown hotel Saturday.  Fuller sits on the Federal bench in the Middle District of Alabama, based in Montgomery.

Fuller, 55, was booked in Fulton County Jail at 2:34 a.m.

Police said they responded to the Ritz Carlton on Peachtree Street at 11 p.m., where they spoke to a woman who said she was assaulted by her husband.

Officers observed injuries to the victim. She was treated on the scene but refused to be taken to a hospital. Fuller was not injured.
