Fake Cops Handcuff Residents During Home Invasion

FAYETTE COUNTY, Ga.,None — Deputies quickly made two arrests in connection with a home invasion in Fayetteville, the Sheriff's Office confirmed to Channel 2 Action News reporter Mike Petchenik.

Residents told investigators that four people came to the house on Kimberly Court sometime before 9:30 a.m. Friday and claimed to be law enforcement agents.

Authorities said three adults inside the home were placed in handcuffs. The fake cops then stole items from the house, investigators said.

Investigators said the perpetrators had guns, but nobody was injured.

The perpetrators fled in a 4-door white Chevy Impala, according to the victims.

A short time later, deputies spotted a similar car on Highway 74 and Tyrone Road and stopped the vehicle.

Police told Channel 2 the two men inside matched a description, and were later identified, by the victims as the same men involved in the home invasion.

Deputies said they also found some items inside the vehicle that were stolen from the home on Kimberly Court.

Charges are pending against the two men detained by police.
