Where can people witness  death-defying stunts, throw an ax, meet a king and attend a joust, all while eating a turkey leg? In Fairburn of course, at the Georgia Renaissance Festival.

A trip to the Georgia Renaissance Festival is a trip back to a 16th century kingdom and village. Visitors can shop, eat and revel with a cast of nearly 1,000 colorfully costumed characters and enjoy 10 stages of music and comedy shows set against a permanent backdrop of Tudor homes and enchanting cottages. This is the 27th year of the festival.

Shows this year include Barely Balanced, a physical daring and awe-inspiring acrobatic show that's full of laughs, a birds of prey show, a funny mud show, a hypnotherapist, a flying debris show and the joust, among others.

Aside from the shows, there are games, rides, activities, demonstrations, music and food.

Popular food choices include the pork chop on a stick, steak on a steak, the king's weenie, fried mac and cheese on a stick and the infamous turkey leg.

The Festival is open weekends now thru June 3. Every weekend has a different theme. Kids free weekend, pirates weekend and fantasy weekend are just a few of the upcoming events. Visitors can come in costume any weekend.
