The Atlanta Braves had the day off Monday. Several members of the team showed up for work anyway.

But the guys weren't working at Turner Field. Dan Uggla, Freedie Freeman, Michael Bourn and a few others traded in their gloves and bats for aprons and became waiters at STK Atlanta.

The event was dubbed Celebrity Waiter Night and served as a fundraiser for Dan Uggla's Diamonds in the Rough Foundation. The foundation raises money to provide opportunities, support and resources to children and families in-need.

"We're targeting kids who are battling cancer," Uggla told Nelson's News on wsbtv.com. "I met a little girl who was battling cancer last year and she just kind of stole my heart. Anyway I can help out her and the people who are going through the same thing that she's going through, it's just one of things you just can't do enough of."

Attendees paid $250 per person to attend the event. There was both a silent and live auction to raise money for the foundation, too.

“Through this event, we hope to raise awareness and support for children and families in need," Uggla said. "With the help of the community, this unique event, will not only be a fun evening for those in attendance, but also an important opportunity to impact young lives right here in Georgia."

Kris Medlen, Tyler Pastornicky, Martin Prado, Eric Hinske and the rest of the players teamed up with a wait staff member at STK Atlanta to serve the guests their meals. The guys signed autographs and posed for photos in between delivering drinks and meals.
