Community Mourns Star Football Player

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Hundreds gathered to say their last goodbye to Rajaan Bennett, a star McEachern High School athlete who was killed in a domestic dispute.

Bennett was shot to death at his home on Woodcrest drive in Cobb County on Feb. 18. Police said his mother's ex-boyfriend, 39-year-old Clifton Steger, pulled the trigger, then turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide.

Family and friends shed tears and hugged one another for comfort in a packed funeral service at Trinity Chapel in Powder Springs.

"There's like nobody you can compare to Rajaan. We should all stay strong," said one mourner.

The 18-year-old recently committed to play football at Vanderbilt University.
