Cleveland woman seals $520K lifetime win

ATLANTA — A Georgia Lottery instant ticket has delivered more than a half-million dollars to one lucky Cleveland woman. Cassandra Rider has won $26,000 a year for 20 years, totaling $520,000, playing the new instant game $500 A Week For Life.

Rider, 27, claimed her prize March 12 at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Duluth.

Clermont Food Mart, 6822 Cleveland Highway in Clermont, sold the winning ticket, and Rider scratched it in the car.

A mother of three children, ages 8, 6 and 11 months, the lucky winner anticipates purchasing a new home and vacationing with her immediate family.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $15 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
