Chick-fil-A holds groundbreaking for new restaurant in Vine City

Dedicating the site of a new fast food restaurant is bringing hope to one of Atlanta’s historic Westside neighborhoods.
A new Chick-fil-A restaurant is being built in Vine City, in the spot that was once the original site for Paschal’s Restaurant for civil rights leaders in the 1960s.
Dan Cathy, CEO of Chick-fil-A, came to the dedication, and the foundation has already been poured. As construction continues, the restaurant is aimed to open in January on the week of Martin Luther King Day.

Quincy Springs, the owner and operator for the new restaurant, talked about what opening a Chick-fil-A in Atlanta’s Westside means to the community, bringing not only chicken but 90 full and part-time jobs.
“I think people everywhere enjoy Chick-fil-A and everybody deserves remarkable service,” Springs said. “Everybody loves good food, everybody loves a clean, safe environment and everyone loves a warm and welcoming place and that’s what this Chick-fil-A is going to be and right here on MLK.”
Springs knows how opening a new business can change the neighborhood. He did not have to come far for his new job, as he used to work as the general manager at the Walmart that opened in Vine City four years ago. The Walmart is right across the parking lot from Chick-fil-A.
